Sweeping Health Care Reform and It's Impact on Employers

Presented by:
Fred Fischer, Benefits Director
Harold Christensen, Benefits Associate
CFP, Inc.

CFP, Inc., will be presenting a brief overview of the
National Health Care Reform Act including:

PPACA Overview
2010 - 2011 Employer Impacts
Dependant Coverage
Small Business Tax Credit
Federal Mandates

The National HealthCare Reform (PPACA) will affect all Oregon employers. Some provisions of the reform are immediate; others will be rolled out over the next few years. This seminar provides a timeline for implementation of the law including a brief overview of the provisions of the reform, adult dependent coverage, and the small business tax credit.

The new law requires everyone to obtain health insurance coverage through one of the following ways:  an employer sponsored plan, individual coverage, or Federal program such as Medicare or Medicaid.  Small employers may not be required to provide group coverage however those with more than 50 employees will pay a penalty if they do not.

Now that health care reform is here every business should be aware of how it will impact them in the coming years.

Fred Fischer has been a member of the CFP team since 1997 is Manager of the firm and Director of the Benefits Department.  He works closely with the Association clients of the firm.  Fred, a graduate of Oregon State University with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting, is a Certified Public Accountant (inactive).  He is a Member of the Oregon Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Harold Christensen joined CFP's in August of 2006.  His background as a local business owner enables him to view a company’s needs from an owner’s point of view and quickly identify cost effective solutions to their benefit needs.   He works with group and individual health, life, and disability insurance as well as Medicare and the new Oregon Healthy Kids Connect program.
