August 7th - Springfield, OR
Yellow Ribbon Veterans Career & Benefits Fair
[click here to download event flyer]

Dear Oregon Employer:

I am writing to ask for your help in making sure that the men and women of the Oregon National Guard who served our country in Iraq have the opportunity for a complete and satisfying return to civilian life. This spring, nearly 3,000 members of the 41st Infantry Brigade Combat Team are returning from a one-year deployment in Iraq. Over 50% of these soldiers will not have a job when they return.

This is where you and your organization can help by giving these returning soldiers and their families favorable consideration when filling vacant positions. As an Oregon employer, you are in the unique position of increasing the number of family-wage jobs in Oregon. These jobs can make a huge difference for Guard families who face a challenging economic environment upon returning home from serving their country.

To assist in this effort, I will be working with the Oregon National Guard this summer on a series of job fairs across the state to bring Oregon employers and members of the Guard together. I ask that you save the date for the Yellow Ribbon Career and Benefits Fair, which will be open to all service members and their families - Saturday, August 7th in Springfield.

I would greatly appreciate your participation in these events, whether you have openings now or anticipating creating jobs this year. If you have any questions or need registration information contact Juine Chada in my Eugene office at 541-431-0229 or Fritz Graham in my Salem office at 503-589-4555.

Sincerely,
Ron Wyden, U.S. Senator

How Will Health Care Reform Affect Your Bottom Line?

The recently passed health care reform legislation will have a significant impact on many companies and organizations. The legislation will influence the decisions that companies make on employee health insurance benefit packages, which in turn may have additional financial implications if not assessed, analyzed, and addressed in a thoughtful, timely, and constructive manner.

Learn about the important benchmark dates, your reporting requirements, and how you can
plan for these changes at the following complimentary seminar.
Lunch will be provided during the event.

Parking available on-site or at the Marion Parkade.

Rail Now!
Salem Conference Center

"Rail Now!" will explore improving passenger and freight rail between Eugene and Portland within five years, and continue the national conversation about the benefits of investing in America's passenger rail.

"Rail Now!" will bring together a variety of experts to talk about what is needed to improve and increase the number of passenger trains serving the Willamette Valley.

We will explore the economic and environmental benefits of investing in both passenger and freight rail, look at what is happening in other parts of the country, and understand how Oregon can pursue a conventional 21st Century Rail Transportation System now.

Our goal: September will resonate with "Rail Now!" conversations and rail ideas, encouraging new thinking with practical, achievable solutions to implement immediately in 2011.

Registration starts in August
