Save More, Matter More
Make a difference for your community and your bottom line!

Join Portland General Electric and other local businesses by making a pledge to save energy with our second-annual Save More, Matter More campaign. A pledge is your business’ promise to implement an energy-saving project in the near future. Companies can make a big impact, leading the way in reducing our carbon footprints, powering Oregon’s future and strengthening our business community. Last year, more than 260 companies helped to do just that.
When you make a pledge on the PGE’s website by Dec. 31, 2009, you’ll be entered to win one of five $3,000 lighting retrofits. Some of last year’s winners are already enjoying their new lights and lower bills. This year it could be you! And since saving energy can save you money, help the environment and set an example in your community, you’ll feel like a winner!
Your pledge qualifies you for a free energy-efficiency consultation from PGE and Energy Trust of Oregon. To prepare for this consultation, please download the Do-It-Yourself Audit form and e-mail us the completed form. You will be contacted by a PGE Energy Specialist within two business days for your consultation.
Here are some ideas for energy-saving pledges to get you started. These projects typically earn Energy Trust’s cash-back incentives and state tax credits, and may qualify for Oregon Energy Loans, making energy efficiency possible without breaking the bank. Even if you lease your space but pay your own utility bills, it may make sense for you, too.
- Lighting - Installing high-efficiency compact fluorescent bulbs, replacing older, inefficient T12 bulbs with T8s and installing lighting controls such as occupancy sensors are all cost-effective projects that can immediately reduce your electric bill and energy use.
- Programmable thermostats - Let the thermostat do the thinking and saving for you. Set the thermostat at 68 degrees for heating and 75 degrees for cooling temperatures while your business is operating. Many businesses also find that a locking cover keeps temperatures (and costs) in control.
- Insulation - Cold weather is coming. Stay warm for less by insulating ceilings and walls and keeping the heat inside!
- Heat pumps - Today’s energy-efficient pumps are quiet, reliable, and can also cool your space. They even come in ductless models, which are ideal replacements for zonal wall or baseboard heating.
Actions by industry or technology - Looking for tips specific to your industry? You can also find pledge ideas tailored toward your business type or by the technologies involved. [more]
