Corban names new Chief of Security

Salem, Ore. — Corban College & Graduate School has named Randy Corey as its new Executive Manager/Chief of Security. Corey, a retired Marion County Sheriff, will assume responsibilities on January 4, 2010.

Steve Hunt, Vice President for Marketing, said, “Randy brings 28 years of law enforcement experience to the position. We are blessed to have his career expertise and his personal faith in Christ to assist us in accomplishing our mission.”

The hire of Corey was made public Monday, December 21, following the announcement that Rodger Greenfield, current Executive Manager/Chief of Security, is “re-entering retirement” at the end of the month.

In his two years serving the college, Greenfield has been the driving force behind significant upgrades in emergency response systems on campus. Furthermore, he has invested greatly in the training of student security personnel, who are professionally certified and qualified for field work. Tom Samek, Director of Campus Care, said, “Rodger’s made the security department at Corban a first-class operation.”

Corey has broad field experience in law enforcement. He received an Associate of Science in law enforcement from Chemeketa Community College in 1996. Between 1981 and 2008, he earned basic, intermediate and advanced certificates as a Certified Police Officer, as well as a basic certificate in corrections. He has also been a Certified Defensive Tactics Instructor since 1995. His favorite role with Marion County included six years in K-9 patrol, and a close second was four years of detective work on the homicide team, with other serious crimes against persons, and with internal investigations.

Retiring from the Marion County Sheriff Office in December 2008, Corey is highly respected in the community. He will be “another great addition to carry on security at Corban,” said Samek.
