Opening On Marion County Planning Commission

Join a group of people who can affect what gets built -- and what
doesn't -- next to cities, near a favorite fishing hole, along I-5 and
the Willamette River, in the fields and orchards, and all the way up to
the Santiam Pass.

The nine-member Marion County Planning Commission has a vacancy to be
filled by residents interested in shaping land uses and development. To
maintain geographic representation, the preference will be for a person
living in central to northern Marion County, including the cities of
Aurora, Donald, Gervais, Hubbard, Mt. Angel, Scotts Mills, and St. Paul.

Currently, the maximum number of members allowed from building trades,
development and real estate has been filled, so applicants should be
those without a financial stake in those areas.

Members are appointed by the Marion County Board of Commissioners to
serve four-year terms. The commission usually meets on the first and
third Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 p.m. at Courthouse Square, 555
Court St. NE, in Salem.

The commission reviews subdivisions, amendments to the Comprehensive
Plan and zoning ordinances, and special projects with recommendations to
the Board of Commissioners for action.

Application forms are available at the Marion County Business Services
Office, 555 Court St. NE, Salem, OR 97309 or online at
www.co.marion.or.us/bs/vol. Applicants should be at least 18 years
old and residents of Marion County. Application deadline is Friday,
April 10, 2009.
